Mayo-Hegar needle holders are surgical instruments designed for holding and driving needles through tissues. Mayo-Hegar needle holders are designed with a scissor-like shape, featuring a long, slender body with finger rings on one end and opposed jaws on the other. The jaws have serrated (cross-hatched) tips to securely grip the needle during suturing. They feature a ratcheted locking mechanism. These needle holders are 15 cm (6”) long, and the tips are straight. These are made of surgical grade stainless steel, suitable for autoclaving and other sterilization methods. This is a package of 12 instruments that are student grade instruments. These are perfect for disposable applications. Mayo-Hegar needle holders are named after the renowned surgeons Charles Horace Mayo and William J. Mayo (of the Mayo Clinic) and Friedrich Trendelenburg and Carl Hans Hegar, all distinguished figures in the field of surgery. These instruments have become a standard tool in the operating room.
