Description

Earthquakes are a devastating natural phenomena. For people living in areas most affected by earthquakes, it is important to create buildings with strong structural integrity. This Earthquake Shake Table allows students to test different structures to see which ones can best withstand the shaking caused by earthquakes.

The base is 16 x 16 inch and has four strong springs at the corners, with adjustable mountings to hold a variety of tower bases. A tower model can have a base up to 12 inches on each side. A pair of motors are mounted underneath and have a protective cage to protect fingers while the table is in motion. The motors can be easily powered powered individually or together by a 1-5 V DC power supply (required but not included) and are intended to be a reliable and consistent source of vibrations. If a more energetic vibration is needed to test a design, the base can be manually shaken.

This is a shaking apparatus only. Users need to provide the building materials and power supply.
